Why is this important?
The Cliff Edge Coalition campaigns to strengthen social security, ensuring that people and families are protected from some of the harshest impacts of welfare reform. Too many households are barely staying afloat, as prices for food, energy, transport, rents and school costs continue to climb and climb.
There are key interventions that Stormont can make to alleviate the stress and trauma of not having enough money to cover the essentials. Too many people continue to face financial hardship and there is more to be done to ensure our social security system provides the support people need.

While important progress has been made, significant challenges remain.
This is why the Cliff Edge Coalition calling on political parties to commit to:
1. Extend the mitigation of the benefit cap beyond 2028
2. Resolve the 5-week wait for Universal Credit
3. Implement a Carer's Recognition Payment and a Young Carer's Recognition Payment
4. Provide a support grant for private renters.
This is why the Cliff Edge Coalition calling on political parties to commit to:
