• OPEN LETTER: Support Our Demands in Response to Racist Violence
    1. Leadership The worst times bring out the best in people, and we saw that this week. Community organisations and ordinary people from every background, community and colour stepped in to support their neighbours when statutory services failed: evacuating people from burning homes, offering refuge and essential supplies, and transport to exams and appointments. We demand: • Concrete plans on anti-racism and refugee integration • Multi-agency, joined-up emergency response to the levels of crisis. • Proactive leadership to combat racism and stereotyping 2. Justice Currently, there are no specific offences in law for prejudice-motivated crimes, including hate crimes. Yet, annual PSNI statistics show that race hate crime in Northern Ireland has reached its highest level since records began. We demand: • Enact hate crime legislation • Effective racial equality law • Accountability of public authorities 3. Investment We know what we need in our communities, and we know what keeps us safe - decent work, access to healthcare, investment and youth and community services. Now, we need our political representatives to work together and deliver for everyone who calls here home. Migrants and other minoritised communities cannot be scapegoats for these institutional failures. We demand: • Investment in migrant-led organisations • Investment in community services • Investment in social housing

  • Limit flag numbers in Royal Hillsborough
Hillsborough is well known as a picturesque and historic Georgian village. There's a great atmosphere here with our busy main street shops, cafes, pubs and businesses. We are very lucky to live in such an idyllic and desirable village and we must do everything to protect this.  Every summer for at least six weeks this idyllic village is covered with flags; this damages the villages reputation and is viewed by many from all political persuasions as a cheap and tacky eyesore which is tribal and perhaps even threatening - none of which is in keeping with the welcoming nature of the village we all love living in.  I propose that there needs be to a change to the number, size, distribution and the length of time these flags are flown. We can achieve a satisfactory outcome for all with mutual understanding and mature discussion.  Please support this petition to preserve the beauty and community values of Hillsborough.

  • No expansion for Thales missile testing facility
Thales is complicit in supplying Israel’s drones for use in its genocidal campaign against the people of Palestine. It is heavily interlinked with Elbit Systems to do so. Thales also provides other indirect supports to the Israeli military & intelligence services. Politicians across Ireland should be rejecting all such applications, investments & state support for firms complicit in genocide & warmongering, alongside divestment & ending government support. To add insult to injury, this development comes downstream of Thales receiving a £1.6B investment deal from the British Treasury for missile production in the North of Ireland. The plans form part of a £100m spend from Thales to expand their facilities regionally. When workers & the public services they rely on are on their knees we are seeing warfare instead of welfare. We need homes, healthcare, not bombs! We must spread word as to Thales complicity and to prevent the applications succeeding due to flying under the radar. A mass campaign involving many people makes it less likely they can succeed.

  • Move the Irish Open from Donald Trump's Doonbeg golf course
I don't think we should be showing support for Donald Trump. I would like the golfing community to try and get the DP World Tour to move the event to somewhere else.

  • OPEN PUBLIC LETTER: Stop the New Immigration Crackdown – Protect Families, Workers, and Communities
The new rules include: • huge income and salary thresholds that will separate thousands of families, • restrictions on dependants, • temporary refugee status that must be renewed every 30 months, • retroactive ILR changes that break the rule of law, • expanded deportation powers, and • a ban on settlement for anyone who has ever accessed “public funds” — including emergency housing after racist attacks, riots, or domestic violence, and legal aid for cases against abusive employers or hate crime. These measures put entire communities at risk and undermine the human rights protections guaranteed under the Good Friday Agreement. We are calling for: • protection for everyone already living in the UK, • reversal of the 11 November changes, • an end to retroactive immigration rules, • an end to temporary refugee status reviews, • and the dismantling of the Hostile Environment. Sign now to stand with families, workers, and communities — and stop these harmful changes. • Strong hate crime legislation NOW!
Anti-immigration protests, racist attacks on migrant workers and rising political violence has left more and more people across Northern Ireland feeling unsafe. While the number of racially-motivated attacks has risen to a record levels in Northern Ireland, we are still waiting for the Justice Minister to introduce strong hate crime legislation which would hold those engaged in racist violence to account. The recommendations on how to strengthen hate crime legislation are ready to be implemented. Former Judge Desmond Marrinan conducted an independent review of hate crime legislation in 2020 and has recently said he is "greatly disappointed" at the time it has taken to bring forward new legislation. People across Northern Ireland have been taking inspiring actions to fight hate with love in their communities. We call on Naomi Long to start using her powers and introduce strong hate crime legislation today.

  • BOYCOTT THE WHITE HOUSE ON ST PATRICK'S DAY 2025
The genocide in Gaza has been livestreamed to the world since October 7 2023. Conservative estimates put the number of people killed as approx. 68,000 (recent figures published by The Lancet) with over 100,000 maimed and injured. Every step of this genocide has been funded and supported by the United States. Our governments have paid lip service rather than take any meaningful action against Israel. The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel is guilty of committing plausible genocide in Gaza. Israel has displayed intent in the words of its government officials, in its deliberate denial of humanitarian aid, food, preventing safe births to mention a few. In 2024 our petition to Boycott the White House St Patrick's Day Celebrations got more than 20,000 signatures. The pressure we put on politicians not to go resulted in several prominent politicians not going, as well as protests in Ireland and the US against the betrayal. This year we have an opportunity to build on this. Through constant lobbying and pressure, Ireland is now a party to the case South Africa is taking against Israel in the International Courts of Justice. People pressure also forced Israel to close its embassy in Ireland. We call on all political parties on the island of Ireland to listen to the people and not go to Washington on St. Patrick's Day to shake hands soaked with the blood of Palestinians. • Support the People's Housing Bill!
'The People's Housing Bill' aims to alleviate the devastating housing crisis being felt in communities throughout the North, and is being brought forward by Gerry Carroll MLA. Social housebuilding is at a 60-year low, while private rents are at an all-time high.  48,366 households are on the housing waiting list - this amounts to around 90,000 people. 36,741 of those households are in “housing stress", dealing with issues like damp and mould, overcrowding and facing homelessness. The bill proposes to cut and cap rents, and increase housing supply by turning empty houses into homes.  Meaningful action to tackle the housing crisis is long overdue - it's time to show Stormont that people demand change. Sign the petition today!

  • Come clean: Are publicly funded NI-based companies providing fighter jet components to Israel?
Invest NI has given over £19 million pounds of public money to four companies based in Belfast, Crumlin, Newtownabbey, Dunmurry and Castledawson that make parts for F-35 war planes - the very ones which are raining bombs down on Gaza. Crumlin and Newtownabbey based company RLC Group, and Dunmurry based company RFD Beaufort Limited are named by Campaigns Against the Arms Trade as manufacturers of parts for the F-35 fighter jets. According to their website, Moyola Precision Engineering manufacture "airframe parts for F35" and received £5.67 million of taxpayers money from Invest NI with some of that allocated in 2023/2024. Our member-funded research has revealed that Electronic Automation Engineers (EAE), has links to a programme for building F-35 fighter jets and received £157,365 from Invest NI since 2018/19. And what’s more, the UK arms industry produces 15% of every one of those jets that are made, including the 39 being used by Israel’s to bomb Gaza. There’s a real chance that our money has been used to support companies involved in aiding Israel. Internal emails revealed by the Belfast Telegraph shows that Invest NI believes there are companies based in Northern Ireland “supplying components to larger companies that may ultimately end up in Israel.” Furthermore, our member-funded report reveals that Invest NI not only offered these four companies important financial support to help develop their factories, labour force and more; but also provided key administrative support to win contracts - including ones related to F-35s - and support with strategic plans. Most recently, our research has revealed customer approvals from major arms companies such as BAE Systems for Moyola Precision Engineering that enable the company to supply components for F-35s. Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald, who is in charge of Invest NI, needs to come clean, and reveal if our money is being given to companies aiding the slaughter in Gaza.

  • Statement of Solidarity to #BlackLivesMatter
Black people around the world have been subject to colonial rule, the atrocities of the transatlantic slave trade, and the effects of white supremacy culture. Capitalism and the immense wealth of the global north was built on stolen labor, ongoing colonisation and violent dispossession at the hand of white supremacy against people of African descent and Indigenous peoples. The condition of Black and Indigenous people and throughout the world today must be placed in its proper historical context. The recent grassroots uprisings across the globe are powerful and demonstrate how fed up Black communities are with systemic oppression and racism. These protests demand not just an end to Black suffering and death but a commitment to help Black people live and thrive, to shift from a world centered on white supremacy and violence to one grounded in equity and justice. This moment demands that each of us—especially those of us who are not Black or Indigenous—act with great urgency in defense of Black lives, to support the work of ending police brutality and white supremacy, and to bring forth a world in which Black people are truly free and liberated. While the Black experience and fight for justice around the world are as varied and diverse as Black people themselves, we stand in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives and call on elected leaders around the globe to end the war against Black people.

  • Doug Beattie - keep your promises on Integrated Education
Right now, the Integrated Education Bill is going through the NI Assembly - but those opposed to integrated education are misleading schools and parents, telling them the Bill will harm existing schools - it won't. The Bill can pass if enough parties support it - and what the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) do will be crucial. Last month, Doug Beattie, the UUP Leader, signalled his support for integrated education and said "Northern Ireland has been blighted by division.. and yet we don't take the brave steps to try and deal with that division...we need to end educational apartheid which is taking place here in Northern Ireland." We need Doug and his MLAs to support the Integrated Education Bill, and resist attempts by the Bill's opponents to sign a "Petition of Concern" - an Assembly motion that would doom the Bill. Write now and tell Doug how you feel!

  • Drop Citibank from Belfast Pride
Citibank, who are facilitating the supply of billions of pounds of Israeli weapons and enabling the slaughter of tens of thousands of Palestinians, [1] are also one of the main sponsors of this year's Belfast Pride Festival - the biggest LGBTQIA+ event in the city. This is pinkwashing at its very worst - using Belfast Pride and our LGBTQIA+ community to distract from their brutal business practices. Not only are they supporting weapons deals, Citibank is also funding several fossil fuel companies to drill for gas off Gaza, [3] - as thousands of innocent people are being massacred, and famine looms [4] as a result of Israel’s brutal siege. Israel has no right to grant licenses to companies to drill for oil or gas in the Palestinian territory. Fossil fuels have always been tied up with war and to extract oil and gas from a region whose population are being starved to death and brutally murdered, is a war crime. We demand that Belfast Pride Festival drops Citibank as one of its main sponsors!
